Vote: High school football star of Week 4
Here's a look at the high school football players who filled the stat sheets in Week 4. Which player should be this week's star? Cast your vote below.
Elijah Melancon, sr., QB, Eunice
Does this sound like a good night’s work, or what? He threw for 215 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 165 yards and two TDs, and had two, 2-point conversions for the Cardinals in an 88-36 victory over Morton, Texas.
Greyson Meek, sr., RB, Eunice
Hey, when you score 88 points in a game, you are bound to have multiple nominees for Star of the Week, and Eunice has that in the person of Meek, who rushed 16 times for 190 yards and four touchdowns — plus, five 2-point runs.
Hershul Olloway Jr., jr., RB, St. Pius
The ever-elusive Olloway is a sensationally fun and dangerous weapon for the Sartans, and he piled up 255 rushing yards in a win over Organ Mountain, including two long touchdown runs, one of them 95 yards.
Derrick Warren, sr., QB, Artesia
Warren was extremely efficient Friday against Deming, completing 10 of 13 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns, and also adding a rushing TD in a 41-14 win over the Wildcats.
Jose Porras, jr., WR/KR, Goddard
Porras only caught three balls Friday versus Santa Teresa, two of them for touchdowns, and he averaged 45 yards a catch. He also returned a punt 55 yards for a score in a District 2-5A opener.
