Here's a look at the high school football players who filled the stat sheets in Week 5. Which player should be this week's star? Cast your vote below.

Bodi True, sr., QB, Manzano

The Monarchs’ signal caller enjoyed a stellar road trip at Portales on Friday night, throwing for 305 yards and five touchdowns as Manzano continued its good play with a 40-14 victory at Portales.

Aurelius Wiley, jr., QB, Volcano Vista

Wiley ran wild against Eldorado on Friday night, with nearly 150 yards and three rushing touchdowns in the first half alone. He finished with five TDs, four on the ground, as the Hawks beat Eldorado 35-7.

Chalito Cano, jr., QB, Belen

Cano was responsible for six touchdowns on Thursday as the Eagles put up 56 points in a victory over Del Norte. He had 11 rushes for 209 yards and three touchdowns, and half of his six completions also went for TDs. He had 371 combined yards.

Nathanael Best, sr., QB, Alamogordo

Best destroyed Organ Mountain with his legs on Friday night in a District 3-6A triumph, rushing for a whopping 346 yards on just 23 carries with two touchdowns, and he also threw for two scores.

Danny Amaro, sr., RB, Las Cruces

Amaro makes another appearance in our Stars feature, with 221 yards and five touchdowns for the top-ranked Bulldawgs on Friday night, as they defeated Hobbs in a District 3-6A opener.

Elijah Rivero, sr., WR, Lovington

Rivero had a hand in all three phases for the Wildcats in their district win Friday night against Goddard. He caught a touchdown pass, he returned a punt for a TD (his third of the year), and he also intercepted a pass.

Tristin Fernandez, sr., QB, Grants

Fernandez had himself a magnificent evening Friday, throwing for 350 yards — on just nine completions — and five touchdowns. He rushed for a sixth score in the Pirates’ victory over Kirtland Central.
