Here's a look at the high school football players who filled the stat sheets in Week 9. Which player should be this week's star? Cast your vote below.

Jahleel Lewis, jr., QB, Sandia

What a Week 9 performance from the Matadors’ skilled quarterback. He accounted for seven touchdowns — six passing and one rushing — for Sandia in its victory over West Mesa. He threw for 335 yards.

Jett Curtis, jr., RB/DB, Texico

Curtis, one of 2A’s best overall athletes, had a stellar showing in a 42-34 road win Friday at rival Eunice. He caught two touchdown passes, covering 15 and 27 yards, and he also intercepted two passes.

Jayden Gutierrez, sr., QB, Lovington

Gutierrez accounted for over 400 yards as the Wildcats on Friday routed Gadsden. And like Sandia’s Lewis, he had a hand in seven touchdowns. He was 8-for-10 for 235 yards and four scores, and added 12 carries for 211 yards and got into the end zone three times.

Cross Figg, soph., QB, Texico

The Wolverines get a second nominee this week in Figg, who was brilliant in the aforementioned win over Eunice. He threw for 194 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 174 yards and a score.

Derrick Warren, sr., QB, Artesia

Warren makes a repeat appearance in our Stars feature, and it’s well earned. In a huge 42-28 road win at Artesia on Friday, Warren sparked the offense with a 19-for-33 performance, with 318 yards and six touchdown passes.

Lorenzo Sedillo-Urban, sr., QB, Legacy Academy

This is one of Class 2A’s most elite dual-threat quarterbacks. On Friday, in a win at Estancia, he was 11-for-17 for 169 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He rushed for 124 yards (on just six carries) and two additional TDs.
