Barbara Ann Pierce On the 5th of April 2025, Barbara Ann Pierce (Warfel), a longtime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, lost her battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She died in her own bed at the age of 79. Barbara was born on May 13, 1945 to Dorothy and Walter Warfel in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She grew up on a family farm outside of Millersville, Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn Manor High School in 1964. For Health reasons, after her graduation, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona and lived with her father's brother, Paul Warfel, His wife Virginia and their family David, Alice, Joanne and Mark. They became her extended family, and she remained close to them for the rest of her life. In may of 1966, on a blind date, she met her lifelong love, James Edward Pierce Jr. They dated for less than 90 days and were married on July 22, 1966 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Phoenix. Her family was the most important part of her life. She had two boys, John Walter Pierce in 1967 and James Edward Pierce III in 1971. In 1981 Barbara and her family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. She loved to travel, cook and visit antique shops. She collected post cards and Lowell Davis sculptured porcelain farm animals. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels for 25 years and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for 44 years. At Faith she was an active member of the Quilting group and the Card Stamping group. In October 2023, Barbara and Jim moved to Coronado Villa, a senior living community in Albuquerque. In January 2024 she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Barbara died in her own bed on April 5, 2025. She will be greatly missed by her husband Jim and her family. Barbara was proceeded in death by her parents, Walter and Dorothy Warfel, her oldest grandson Cody Shane Pierce, her Uncle Paul, her Aunt Virginia and her cousins David, Alice and Joanne. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Jim, and her two sons. John and his wife Laura, and their children Dalton James Pierce and Courtney Jean Pierce of Albuquerque, New Mexico, James and his wife Mary Ann of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Her sister Dolores J. Harnish of Willow Street, Pennsylvania. Her brother John Warfel of Millersville, Pennsylvania. Her cousen Mark Warfel of Prescott, Arizona. A worship service in celebration of the life of Barbara Ann Pierce will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 10,000 Spain Road NE, 87111 on May 23, 2025 at 10:00AM
