Cecilia Gurule Cecilia Gurule, age 90, born in Albuquerque,
Cecilia Gurule Cecilia Gurule, age 90, born in Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at her home on June 13, 2025, surrounded by her Family. Cecilia is survived by her children, Larry (Lorraine) Gurule, Steve Gurule, Becky (Patrick) LeFaive, and Sheila Gurule (Gene Johnson). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Angela Gurule (Carl Armijo), Sarah (Mark) Rogowski, Desi Gurule, Racquel Gurule, Sylvia (Kristy) (David) Marquez, Jayson (Emily) Varela, and Gabriel Varela (Valery Loera), and by 13 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Annie Montoya and by her son-in-law, Bill Varela. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, whom all loved "Auntie Cecilia" and numerous cousins. Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Elvira Montoya; her husband of 69 years, Reyes Gurule; daughters, Sandra Varela and Deena Gurule; and granddaughter, Felicia Gurule. Cecilia was the most devoted, incredible, wonderful, and beautiful mother and grandmother-a woman whose hands were rarely still, whether folded in prayer or stirring up something delicious in the kitchen. She was hilariously funny and entertained us with her playful sense of humor. Grandma Ley, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, had a way of making everyone feel safe and loved. Her home was always a comforting place to rest, laugh, or simply take a break from the world. We will miss her fiercely, but her laugh, love, and light will remain with all of us-forever in our hearts. A Rosary, followed by Mass will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 at 9:30 AM, at Queen of Heaven Church, 5300 Claremont Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
