Charles Frederick "Chuck" Newman Chuck Newman 92, of Westminster, CO passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025. He was born on January 09, 1933, on a farm near Ozawkie, KS to Archie Lawrence and Etta Faye Coursey Newman. After two years of living on a farm, Chuck's family moved to Topeka, KS where he grew up and graduated from Topeka High School in 1950. In June 1951, he joined the U.S. Navy Reserves where he did one exercise naval training cruise. In December 1952, Chuck received his draft notice and spent the next two years in the U.S. Navy serving aboard the USS Capricornus cargo ship during the end of the Korean conflict. After being discharged from the U.S. Navy, he went back to Topeka to work at the Air Force Depot and met his wife to be 'Bernice' and they were married in August 1956. They moved to Albuquerque to live for the next 60 years, and he worked at Sandia Laboratory and at the Defense Nuclear Agency. He retired at the age of 58 and continued his passion for playing tournament golf. Chuck is survived by his children: Arlene Bailey of Enterprise, AL, Dennis (Mary) Newman of Melissa, TX, Charlotte (Jim) Brown of Phoenix, AZ, and Alan (Shelley) Newman of Broomfield, CO, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice, after 63 years of marriage and his parents.
