David R. Segura David Roger Segura, 67, died Friday, October 31, 2025 after a brief illness at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, RI. He was the beloved husband of Susan Duffy-Segura. Born on September 13, 1958 to Jose Leon and Carmen (Gonzales) Segura, he was raised in the Las Vegas, NM and Fort Union, NM area until the family moved to Santa Fe in 1969. David is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Lorraine Segura-Dunn, Janette Segura, his brother, Leon Segura, as well as his grandparents and several aunts and uncles. After attending the University of New Mexico, and graduating from Eastern New Mexico University, David would become a New Mexican National Class marathoner with a best time of 2:13:59 at the age of 19 in 1979 (Nike OTC marathon-Eugene). This was once an American collegiate marathon record, the world mark for age 20 & under for a decade, and US mark for a debut marathon for two decades. He was an Olympic Trials qualifier in 1980 and 1984. He was responsible for starting up the now very successful St. Michael's High School cross country programs during the 1990's, before moving on to coach collegiately. He was a mathematics teacher at St. Michael's, and developed a junior high math curriculum. He would later work as a validation specialist for Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, New York, and as an engineer for Amgen. He is survived by his wife, Susan Duffy-Segura; his stepson, Jason Reilly; and his siblings, Julie Segura-Cordova and her daughter Sophia Cordova, Lorretta Segura and her partner Julia Asevedo, Matthew Segura and his wife Nancy Herring, and Pat Segura; as well as his uncles, aunts and many cousins. His funeral will be held Friday, November 7, 2025 at 8:30 AM from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Jude Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln, RI. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours on Friday from 8:30 - 9:30 AM.
