Deacon Steve Sumiyama Rangel Deacon Steve Sumiyama Rangel, age 68, was called to eternal rest on September 3, 2025 in the presence of his devoted family, following a sudden onset of aggressive pancreatic cancer. He was born January 5, 1957 to Leo and Karen Rangel in San Antonio, TX. Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 6:00-7:00 PM, St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW, Albuquerque, NM. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Archbishop John Wester, will be held at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd., Albuquerque, NM 87109. Reception will be held in the parish hall at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church following the interment.
