Dolores Montoya Dolores Montoya a devoted wife, beloved
Dolores Montoya Dolores Montoya a devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, respected educator, and a lifelong Presbyterian where she served as a deacon, passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Dolores was born in the rural northern New Mexico town of Capulin. She was a determined bilingual student who pushed herself to excel from an early age. She attended Menaul High School and earned both her bachelor's and master's degree from the University of New Mexico, and continued her lifelong passion for education as a teacher and principal. Dolores was a compassionate mentor. She dedicated her career to guiding teachers and bringing out their best. Her love for learning was the cornerstone of our family. Not only did she inspire us, but she inspired generations to value education and strive for excellence. The magic and beauty of nature fed Dolores' creative talents. She was a painter, a chirographer, and an art collector. Her flower arrangements were exquisite and she loved filling her home with treasures from her worldwide travels. She saw colors in the world that others missed and brought that beauty into everyday life. Dolores is survived by her husband of 73 years, Bob Montoya; daughters, Kathy Montoya Potter and Roberta Kraemer (Mike); grandchildren, Evan Potter (Kelley), Tarryn Taylor (Luca), Caitlin Garrity (John); great-grandchildren, Elvis and Jet Potter, and Allessandra and Trevi Taylor. Bob was the love of her life. She took joy and pride in nourishing him both in spirit and in food, always ensuring he looked his best. But her greatest joy came from her grandchildren, Evan, Tarryn, and Caitlin, whom she cherished beyond measure. She encouraged their creativity, celebrated their talents, and filled their lives with unconditional love. Her legacy of devotion, excellence, and beauty lives on in all who knew her and loved her. A celebration of life for Dolores will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at 2nd Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102 with a reception to follow at the Church.
