Ellis "Gene" Fish Jr. 1952-2025 Ellis "Gene" Fish Jr., age 72, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on March 17, 2025. Services will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, March 28, beginning with a visitation at 1 p.m., with a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date in Santa Fe National Cemetery. He is preceded in death by his mother, Clara B. Flesher Fish; and sister, Sandra Matthews. Gene is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Fish; son, Brann Linzie; grandchildren, Kali and Dante Linzie; father, Ellis E. Fish; sister, Bonnie Matthews (Kirby); and many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Caravan Amateur Radio Club and Valencia County Amateur Radio Association; his call sign was KI5BZI. Gene served in the U.S. Navy from 1971-74, of which two of those years he was on the USS Midway in Tonkin Gulf in North Vietnam as a trans equipment assembler. When he returned home from the U.S. Navy, he co-owned Albuquerque Auto Supply with his parents, Ellis and Clara Fish, until the store closed in 1990. Gene retired from Walgreens in 2015.
