Esequiel Mares Jr. (Zeke) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Esequiel Mares Jr. (born July 7, 1959). After a lengthy illness, Esequiel quietly passed away in his sleep on Sunday morning, September 7, 2025. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esequiel Mares and Eusabia Mares. He is survived by his four brothers: Thomas Mares, Ralph Mares (of Albuquerque, NM), John Mares, and Michael Mares (of Corona, NM). He is also survived by his two sisters: Brigida Chavez (of Rio Rancho, NM) and Geri Acosta (of Amarillo, TX). Esequiel, lovingly known as Zeke, was a devoted movie fan. We would like to share with you his favorite movie quote: "The way you walked was thorny, through no fault of your own, but as the rain enters the soil, the river enters the sea, so tears run to a predestined end." (from The Wolf Man (1941) Your suffering is over, Zeke, our brother. Now you will find peace.
