Evangelina Castillo Marquez Aragon In Loving Memory February
Evangelina Castillo Marquez Aragon In Loving Memory February 10, 1931 - June 3, 2025 Evangelina Castillo, affectionately known as Lina, was born on February 10, 1931 in Albuquerque, NM into the loving home of Maria Luisa and Victorio Castillo. She was the third of what would be seven children in the family. She often said, "we were poor and we didn't know it" because her parents worked hard to make a beautiful life on a farm alongside the lush banks of the Rio Grande in the South Valley of Albuquerque. There "Lina" grew up with a strong faith in the Catholic Church, belief in hard work, and dedication to family and the celebration of life's beauty. She married twice. First to Peter Marquez, MD with whom she had six children; Cecilia, Dolores, Carlos, Ricardo, Peter, and Patrick. Years after Peter's death, she married Frank Aragon. She was a grandmother to eight and a great-grandmother to three. "She was a magnificient mother" who dedicated her whole life to the care and success of her children whom she adores. Their childhood was spent with crispy ironed clothes, wonderful meals, and traditions that will last through the generations to come. Her home was beautiful and curated with a meticulous flourish of color and most of all flowers. But she was full of surprises and she always had a stash of action movies - her favorite was Tombstone - under her TV next to her sewing table. She will be remembered as someone who said what she wanted to say - regardless of how much it would sting - but in a way that, sometimes, made people laugh. She was one of a kind. She was devastatingly beautiful from the time she was born to the day she died. She'll be remembered for her fiery red hair that was only comparable to her fiery personality. She will be missed, and her wisdom and lessons she shared will be remembered forever. Our family is incredibly thankful to Presbyterian Hospice and Adam from Grace House who treated our mother with dignity and love in her final days. We will celebrate her life at a date yet to be announced.
