Felicita Lucero Felicita Lucero, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, and friend, was a strong and extraordinary woman who navigated a life between two different worlds, while keeping her own identity and being true to both. She handled it all with kindness and a sense of humor. Born in Katishtya (San Felipe Pueblo), NM, on April 25, 1946, to Felipita and Lorenzo Lucero, her father encouraged her to learn to live in the larger world outside the Pueblo. What a wise man who knew he had a courageous daughter. Felice began her journey home on August 21, 2025, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughters, Gina (Jeffrey) and Genevieve; granddaughters, Cyrrene and Mavri; brothers, Louis, Rafael, James, and Max; and nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins. Felice began her formal art training at St. Catherine's School in Santa Fe, where she was mentored by her art teacher, Manuel "Bob" Chavez. She studied at the University of New Mexico, earning her Bachelor of Fine Art; earned her Masters of Art in Art Education for Special Populations from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, PA; and Permaculture Agricultural Design Practices certification from the Permaculture Institute in Santa Fe, NM. Her artwork has been shown in one-person and group shows in museums, universities, and galleries and held in permanent public collections throughout the US, and reviewed and published throughout her career. In addition to her lifelong work as an artist and teacher, Felice dedicated herself to the arts, education, Keres language and culture revitalization, and preservation, and agriculture for Pueblo people. Her work, influences, and love for her family and Katishtya will always be felt and remembered. A celebration of Felice's life will be held on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, 1:00pm - 4:00pm at Thirsty Eye Brewing Company, 206 Broadway SE, Albuquerque, NM.
