Services will take place on Saturday, March 29, at Romero Funeral Home Chapel, starting with a visitation at 9 a.m., a celebration of life to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery. She is survived by her children, John (Chris), Lisa (Kenny), Danny, James (Lindsay) and Vicky (Jeff); grandchildren, Justin Whalen, Tyler Luna, Brandon Alexander, Alyssa Luna, James Luna Jr., Ashley Gonzalez, Jacob Luna and Loraine Luna; and great-grandchildren, Alexis Whalen, Braydon Luna, Holden Alexander, Everly Luna and Kaleo Luna. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, John Luna; her son, Richard Glen Luna; her father, Glen Deemer; and her mother, Wilma Deemer. Glenna was born in 1945 in Pampa, Texas, to Glen and Wilma Deemer. She grew up as an only child; however, had a younger brother who passed shortly after birth. The family moved from Texas to Belen in 1954. Glenna married the love of her life, John Luna, in 1961, and welcomed their first child Johnny, in 1962. In 1964, the family moved to San Jose, Calif., where Glenna raised her growing family of five children that now included, Lisa, Danny and the twins, James and Vicky. Her children remember her as a tiny person with a giant personality, who fiercely protected her children first and foremost. She was a dedicated mother and, when John retired, the family moved back to Belen in 1988 to be closer to her parents. Loving mother, grandmother, ma, great-grandmother, wife and friend, she was known for her feisty and witty nature, Glenna was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Glenna volunteered as a coach for the Special Olympics alongside her husband John for many years. It was a special thing to see the bond that her and the athletes shared with each other. Over the years her and the athletes became more of a family. Even when she would see one of her athletes recently having been out of coaching for a while you could hear, "hey coach," which would be followed by a great big hug. She devoted her life to taking care of her son, Danny, and family always putting herself last. She enjoyed going to an occasional movie, trips to Walmart, Taco Tuesdays and frequent trips to Sonic for their favorite drinks with her son, Danny. Glenna also enjoyed going to the casino, where win or lose, she always had fun. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family and was incredibly proud of each of them. Christmas and Thanksgiving were always a special time where the family would gather as they always looked forward to their favorite meals that Glenna would prepare. She had a special talent for cooking and was so prideful to see her family enjoy these meals. She loved the fact that Danny was the first one to the table and how much he loved her holiday cooking, especially her dressing. Her stacked enchiladas were the envy of the enchilada world and will be missed as no one made them like her. She truly loved serving her family and spending time all together. The family requests donations to be made to the Special Olympics at SONM.org. Please sign Glenna's online tribute at romerofuneralhomenm.com. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen.
