Helen Whittemore Helen Arlene Whittemore, aged 90, beloved
Helen Whittemore Helen Arlene Whittemore, aged 90, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on April 25th, 2025 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She entered this world on June 14th, 1934 in Farmington, NM to Albert and Alta Nichols. She is survived by her son, Donald Whittemore and wife Kelly; daughter, Leanne Whittemore and husband Dan Appel; and three grandchildren, Nicole, Darren, and Caroline. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, James Whittemore; and grandson Christian. After graduating from Farmington High School, Helen came to Albuquerque to go to Business College. She started her career as a secretary at Sandia National Laboratories. James was stationed in Albuquerque at Sandia Base (which is now called Kirtland Air Force Base). They met at the First Methodist Church in Albuquerque as they were both in the Wesley Club and were married 6 months later. Helen was very active in Asbury Church, and helped run the Mother's Day Out daycare there for many years. After retiring, Helen and James traveled extensively with Siglo de Oro RV Club and took many tours abroad. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 31st, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Asbury Methodist Church, 10000 Candelaria Road NE.
