Hugh Formhals Clyde Hugh Formhals II passed away July 3, 2025. Born in Albuquerque, NM January 27, 1946. He was the son of the late Clyde Hugh Formhals and Oowala Rider-Formhals and the late brother of James Alexander Formhals. Hugh graduated from Valley High School and the University of New Mexico. After graduating from UNM, Hugh took a teaching job at the Navajo Nation Indian School in Window Rock, AZ. He returned to Albuquerque for an administrative position at UNM. Other vocations Hugh ventured into include Medical Examiner Photographer, Civil Defense Coordinator and estate sales. Hugh was an avid collector of antiques, stamps and rare books. Other interests included fencing, actor in movies and live stage plays, ballroom dance, genealogy research of the Formhals family in the US and Europe, horseback riding and the game of cricket. Hugh had a book published on cricket, The Jolliest Game Under the Sun-A Beginners Guide to Cricket 1983. Hugh had a passion for Italian greyhounds, and had several he loved and cared for. Hugh was a member of the Cherokee Nation, The Cathedral Church of St. John's, Sons of the Confederate Veterans and the Masonic Order. Survived by his brother, Sherman H. Formhals, Oklahoma City, OK; and sister, Arlene Butler-Formhals, Spokane, WA. He is also survived by nieces, Sharen Sample, Linda Woolly and Mary Alixandra Formhals; and nephew, James Aaron Formhals. Hugh was the quintessential gentleman and scholar.
