James Robert Sacoman Our adored father James (Jim) Robert Sacoman passed away after a yearlong bout with cancer on April 9, 2025, at the age of 85. Jim was born in Las Vegas NM on February 2, 1940, after graduating from Santa Fe High in 1959, he enlisted in the US Navy and then married Rosalie (Romero). Jim proudly served his country for six years returning from overseas to start his family (raising three boys) and then graduated from UNM in 1972. Jim worked as a manager for the Social Security Administration for 25 years, retiring in 2000. Jim spent his post-working years as an award-winning tin smith, a champion youth basketball coach and a teacher of tin work craft. Jim, known as "Grand Pa" to many, was an all-around handyman who would fix anything for his large family and group of friends. Jim was a great mentor passing his inspiring work ethic and love of learning to his surviving family; wife Rosalie Sacoman; children Richard (wife Nancy) Sacoman, Charles (wife Fionnuala) Sacoman and David (wife LeeAnna) Sacoman; grandchildren Christian (wife Liz) Sacoman, Alish Sacoman, Dearbla Sacoman, Sean (wife Katie) Sacoman and Drew (wife Amy) Sacoman; great-grand children; Camden Sacoman, Abby Sacoman and Caleb Sacoman as well Jim's sisters Dorthy McDonald and Elaine Sacoman and Sister-in-Law Beverly Sacoman along with many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded by his parents Charlie and Mercedes Sacoman of Santa Fe and by his brother Mike Sacoman. Jim will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will be held later. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Presbyterian Hospice and the staff at the Woodmark at Uptown.
