James Winslett Rawls James Winslett Rawls passed away
James Winslett Rawls James Winslett Rawls passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, after a short illness. Until the end, he maintained the kindness, grace, compassion and love of family that defined his long life. Jim was born on April 21, 1936, to Julian Wood Rawls and Mary Louise Rawls. He entered the United States Air Force in 1957. It was then that he met his beloved wife, Marguerite "Janie" McNeal. They were married in 1959; she spent over 50 years by his side. Together, they spent 22 years traveling across the US during his distinguished Air Force career. In 1980, they settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico where Jim was the Director of Plant Operations for UNM until his retirement. Jim's greatest love was his family. He leaves behind his three sons; Tim, Scott and Ken. His sons were shaped by his infinite love for them. They cherish the memories of their father coaching their baseball team, being their Scout Master and sharing with them his love of the outdoors by teaching them how to fish, hunt and camp. These are gifts they will always cherish. Jim also leaves behind eight grandchildren; Lawrence, Calvin, Sean, Shaylee, Todd, Devin, Tiffany and Nick; and seven great-grandchildren. Jim will be forever missed. His family takes great comfort in knowing that he is finally reunited with his beloved wife, Janie.
