Janice Evelyn Harvey Hill Janice Evelyn Harvey Hill died peacefully at home in Plano, Texas on February 2, 2025. Her death came just 12 days before the 44th anniversary of her marriage to husband Daniel Hill. She was born in Globe, Arizona on June 15, 1953 but grew up in Albuquerque, attending elementary and junior high school there. She later attended UNM and graduated from NMSU with a degree in Journalism. Janice led an adventurous life beginning with a family camping trip to the White Mountains of Arizona when she was one month old. This was followed by yearly camping trips to all the national parks in the American West. Traveling, camping, hiking, mountain climbing, and cross country skiing continued to be part of her life until a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in her late thirties began to limit her activities. The MS diagnosis, however, did not limit her primary focus in life: people and good food. Janice never met a stranger and had a great ability to talk with anyone. As a natural background for this focus, she worked in all aspects of the food industry. In addition to working in and managing restaurants, she tended bar one summer at the famous Uncle Bill's bar in Reserve, New Mexico and finally opened a kitchen shop with her husband in Durango, Colorado. With the impending birth of her son, Janice's focus shifted. She and husband Danny closed The Gadgetree and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Following the birth of Daniel Jeremy in 1989, the family moved to Plano, TX and Janice went back to school to obtain her certificate as a registered dietician. She was very proud of obtaining this degree and worked to maintain and renew it up to the time of her death. In fact, her involvement in all aspects of life continued even after she became homebound and then bedridden. She shared great relationships with her caregivers, supervised the many home remodeling projects that were needed, and maintained contact with family and friends. Janice was predeceased by her grandparents, F. Dude and Pearl McCarty, J.E. Harvey and Zelma Harvey, all longtime Catron County, New Mexico rancers. She was also preceded in death by her parents Rev. Earl S. Harvey and Lois McCarty Harvey, as well as her niece, Jennifer Arterburn. She is survived by her sisters, Sandra Baca, Caroline Harvey Dillman and Cynthia Johns; an uncle Gary Harvey and his wife Lois; her nieces Valerie Gerke and Sarah Dumas and nephew Hank Baca. In addition to several great nieces and nephews, she is also survived by numerous cousins including Shirley Peralta with whom she remained close.
