JoAnn Chavez 1955-2025 JoAnn M. Chavez, 69, passed away March 25, 2025, at her home in Peralta. JoAnn was born on April 8, 1955, to Santiago and Mary Torres, of Peralta. JoAnn met Reuben Chavez and, a few days later, were married. They shared 51 years together. They had three children. JoAnn had several jobs throughout the years, including in-home childcare and working at a daycare. She worked at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School for several years. Her last occupation was working at the Isleta Casino, where she acquired several friends. She spoke of her friend, Hermilla, often. JoAnn loved spending time with her sisters, Lupe and Mary Louise, whom the three were often called "the golden girls." Her partner in crime was Mary Louise, whom JoAnn would often go to the casino with. They had a lot of fun trying to be on their best behavior! JoAnn also spent a lot of time with her granddaughter, Marie, and great-granddaughter, Mia, also known as "the Mias." JoAnn loved when her grandchildren went to visit. She loved her dog, Mordi, whom helped her immensely when her husband passed. JoAnn was a very giving person, always thinking of others first. She made cheesecake often, gifting it to others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. We will all miss her dearly. JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, Santiago and Mary Torres; brother, Benny Torres; sisters, Josephine Vallejos, Theresa Bauler and Guadalupe Romero; and great-grandson, Levi Nathanial Brandt.
