John Herbert Hamilton John Herbert Hamilton, born on July 15, 1940, in Carlsbad, NM went to his eternal home on May 7, 2025. He was the son of Elmer Hamilton and Hazel (Wyatt, Hamilton) Egger, beloved husband of Darline (Triplett) Hamilton and father of Cindy (Kent) Galyon, Denise (Howard) Bartley, and John (Kami) Hamilton II. John was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. John attended and graduated from Valley High School in Albuquerque where he met his life-long partner, his wife Darline. John served in the Coast Guard Reserves from 1959 to 1967. He was a past member of the Montezuma County Fair Board. He became a member and past exalted ruler of the Cortez Benevolent and Protective Order of the ELKS. John and Darline raised three children and were very active in their activities, from track meets, rodeos, Montezuma County fairs and later were even more supportive of their grandchildren, Kyle and Chelsey during their BMX racing period, before moving to Spring Creek, NV to help with their youngest grandchild, Liam. They loved every minute of it. John is survived by his daughters Cindy (Kent) Galyon, Denise (Howard) Bartley, daughter-in-law Kami Hamilton, his sister Margaret (Mark) Lightle, his best friend and brother-in-law Dean (Donna) Triplett, his grandchildren Anthony, Clifford (Amanda), Chelsey (Eric), Kobi (Jasmine), Liam and numerous great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Hamilton and Hazel Egger, son, John Hamilton II, grandson, Kyle Galyon, and wife, Darline. Although John's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire us.
