John Walter Bender John Walter Bender, age 82, passed peacefully on April 16, 2025 in the comfort of his home. Jack, as friends called him, was born in 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Fred and Ella Bender and had two brothers, Fred and Rick. Jack is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Bender; children Deborah (Don), Nancy (Adam), and Douglas; grandchildren Joseph, Shawn and Justin; and great-grandchildren Rubi, Elliot and Hannah. Jack was an Optical Engineer that developed astronomical instruments and lasers. He loved hunting, fishing and was a talented woodcarver. A Celebration of Life will be held May 17th at 1:00 p.m. at the Bender home. Family, friends and former coworkers are welcome.
