Josie Rael Baca 8/8/1929 to 07/11/2025 Josie Baca passed away peacefully at age 95 on Friday, July 11th, 2025 in Albuquerque, NM. Josie was preceded in death by her mother, Mercedes Alvarado; stepfather, Ignacio Alvarado; husband, Jose F. Baca; sons, Carlos Jose Baca and Roland Baca; daughter, Rosella Baca (Turrietta); granddaughter, Glenna Thomas-Witt; great-grandson; Michael Checkley; mother-in-law, Annie Baca; son-in-law, Raul Turrietta; and grandsons-in-law, Joe Monasterio and Jason Riley. Josie is survived by her daughters, Joyce Thomas, Margaret Madrid and husband Sam, and Deborah Baca, she is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Josie was born and raised in Bernalillo, NM; she would settle and raise her family in Barrio Barelas in Albuquerque. Josie was a tremendous spirit that will be missed. A Funeral Mass to be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM, on Friday, August 8th, 2025, 10am. Burial at Fairview Cemetery to follow Mass.
