Kathleen Martinez Born in Upton, Wyoming in 1938, Kay attended Upton High School where she was a drum majorette, actively involved in choir, and the cheerleading team. She attended Chadron State College, where she met and married her husband of 66 years, Frank Martinez. Together they had four children, Chuck (Katie), Shannon (Neil), Ron (Beth), and Lance (Rodney). Those four children blessed her with nine grandchildren, Jevon, Natasha (Brandon), Doug, Brynn, Emma, Katie, Adam, Jesse, Wyatt; and five great-grandchildren, Catalina, Alessandra, Ash, Frankie, and Julian. Kay dedicated her life to Asbury United Methodist church. She worked for and was Director of the church's Mother's Day Out daycare program; she was an active leader in the United Methodist Women in their various missions and endeavors, such as the yearly Christmas bazaar, reading program, spiritual retreats, and the Asbury Pie CafÃ. She was further dedicated to her community, taking particular pride in serving as an usher at the Albuquerque Little Theater. Kay loved singing, performing, traveling, reading, and sewing. She will be terribly missed. Services will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you do something special with those you love.
