M. Helen (Eaton) Gurule April 9, 1934 - February 25, 2025 With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother, M. Helen (Eaton) Gurule on February 25, 2025, in Bakersfield, California, where she had been residing for the past two years. Helen's passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, but her memory will forever be a source of warmth and inspiration. Our mother was predeceased by her beloved husband Leonard F. Gurule, her sister Shirley Houck, and her granddaughter Lynsey Gooding. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Diana and Steve Gooding, Jerene and Roy Stephenson, Lynette Martin and David Funk, and her son Leonard C. Gurule, her grandchildren Cole Gooding, Kendall Gurule, Glenn Gurule, Dylan Martin, Ethan Martin, Korryn Munstenteiger and Garrett Stephenson, as well as her great-grandson Nico Gooding, who will carry forward her legacy. Helen was also a mother and grandmother to extended family members through marriages of her children and she loved them all. Born on April 9, 1934 and raised in Albuquerque, Helen attended St. Mary's parochial school and Albuquerque High School, where she laid the foundation for her future endeavors. In 1953, she married Leonard F. Gurule and they built their family and life together. Helen's professional life was dedicated to the field of education where she served as an administrative secretary to principals at several schools. Her love and respect for children was unsurpassed. Helen's adventurous spirit led to numerous experiences. She was quite the barrel racer, camper, seamstress, crafter and skier. her balloon crew was a group of special friends. She loved the outdoors and visiting her children and grandchildren wherever they lived. Known for her vibrant social nature, Helen formed meaningful connections wherever she went. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family above all else. She created countless special memories with each family member, leaving a lasting imprint on their hearts. Her love and dedication were evident in every interaction with her family and friends. As we remember Helen, we celebrate the many loving memories she gifted us. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will remain with us, guiding and comforting us in the years to come. Rest peacefully, mom. You are deeply loved and will be forever missed. She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony surrounded by her immediate family.
