Margaret Nieto Margaret Nieto, age 82, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 1, 2025. She was born in Puerta de Luna, NM on October 20, 1942. Margaret was well known for her open kitchen and readiness to feed anyone. She was a proud retiree from Kirtland Air Force Base, a member of the Old Town Optimist Club, who also enjoyed fishing, watching Ninja Warrior, and working out in the yard. Margaret was a devoted wife to Pete, loving mother to her one and only "Hito", grandmother, sister, and friend. We will miss your contagious giggles and stacks of tortillas. Until we see you again....... She is preceded in death by her husband, Pete Nieto Sr.; parents, Juan and Juanita Gallegos; siblings, Manuelito Gallegos, Peter Gallegos, Johnny Gallegos Jr., Ricky Gallegos, and Grace Lopez. Margaret is survived by son, Peter Nieto Jr. and wife Erica; grandchildren, Kayla Gomez and husband Anthony, Jesse Nieto, Shawn Nieto and wife Kim, and Randy Nieto; great-grandchildren, Xzavier, Kael, Logan, and Zayne Gomez; siblings, Toni Bazan, Dolly Martinez, Helen Gallegos, Raymond Gallegos (Julia), Loretta Montoya (Mike), Chano Gallegos (Lupe). Sister-in-law, Juanita Lovato and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own. The family would like to specifically thank all the dedicated caregivers, especially Peggy, Katie, and Maria who provided companionship, comfort and support during Margaret's final stages of her life. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 7:00 pm at Garcia Mortuary Chapel, 717 Stover Ave. SW, 87102. A Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 10:00 am at San Ysidro Church, 5015 Corrales Rd, Corrales, NM 87048. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Jesse Nieto, Shawn Nieto, Randy Nieto, Anthony Gomez, Xzavier Gomez, and Kael Gomez.
