Mary Janet Altwies Mary Janet Altwies, born September 4, 1935, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, October 18, 2025. She was a beloved mother and generous soul that gave to everyone that crossed her path. She loved adventures and never would admit to being lost on any of her many travels. She was an extraordinary educator and gave her love of learning to every student she encountered. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Altwies. She is survived by her daughter, Jolene Altwies, her wife, Mary Carmack Altwies and their children, Hudson and Hazel. She also leaves behind her youngest daughter, Jane Altwies, and her children Allison Bremmer, husband Jay, and Abraham Ramirez and his partner, Kaelyn Fenstermacher. Janet will be dearly missed by her family and friends from the many facets of her life. Please join the family for a celebration of life for Janet on Sunday, November 2, 2025, 4:30 pm at Tramway Plaza Event Centre located at 9600 Tennyson St. NE.
