Mary Rose Pena Mary Rose Pena of Las Vegas, NM, passed away

Mary Rose Pena Mary Rose Pena of Las Vegas, NM, passed away on April 3, 2025, into the arms of Jesus Christ, our Savior. She was born on September 6, 1928, and taught elementary school for 36 years in Las Vegas. She then assisted her mother, Mary B. Pena, in the bar/event center on the Plaza for several more years. She had a Bachelor and Master Education degrees. She is survived by the closest cousin, Pearl Gonzales. Other loved cousins are Theresa Vigil, Mary Alice Collatz, Consuelo Lucero, Gloria Baca, Flavio Baca, David Baca, Adela Baca and Candace Baca. She also counted the thousands she taught as her children. She was a devout cradle-Catholic and 50-plus year Catholic Daughter. She was a lady, gently and trusting. Services to be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at her lifelong parish, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic in Las Vegas, with Fr. Rob Yaksich officiating. Rosary at 9:00 am led by her Catholic Daughter Court. Mass of Christian burial to follow rosary with burial following, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. She will be laid to rest alongside her parents, Mary and Vicente Pena and her sister, Mary Grace Pena. Rose's wishes were to be cremated with no viewing and a simple prayerful service. Her brother Vincent, Jr. is at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. We wish to thank Liz and Monica Garcia and their families for her 34-hour tender care for the last year and a half. We also thank her friends Bernadette Gold, Daniel Salazar, Doris Garcia, Leonard and Jim Ortega, Edye Trujillo, Jose Silva, Gary and Gail Delgado, Geri Baca, Cliff Delgado, Norma and Tom Thorton, Patty Milligan, Angeles Stiteler, Priscilla and Ralph Bustos, Kathy Gallegos, Jane and Deacon Reyes Sanchez, Dora and Matthew Saiz, Eloisa Pena, Cecilia Pena, Isabel Williams, and Martha and John Spencer. Thanks to Rogers Mortuary for the kind and professional service to our family over many years. Rose prayed daily for all of you. Pray for her and hopefully we will be in Heaven together.
