Orvis "Bubba" Atkeisson Bubba William Atkeisson, Jr., age 75, passed away peacefully at home on June 16, 2025, in Tavares, Florida, after a long and courageous battle with illness. He was surrounded by the love of his devoted wife, Cheryl, his children, grandchildren; and faithful companion, Buddy the family dog. Born in Raymondville, Texas, to William Atkeisson Sr. and Dorothy Marie Atkeisson (nee Thompson), Bubba moved with his family to California as a young boy. There, he embraced the vibrant coastal lifestyle attending school, working hard, and soaking up the surfer culture of the time. In 1970, Bubba married his high school sweetheart, Martha "Marty," and together they built a loving home. In 1976, the couple relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they raised their three children: Tara, Mike, and Adam. After Marty's passing in 2006, Bubba found love again and married Cheryl in 2008, gaining a beloved stepson, Marcus. Professionally, Bubba led a rich and varied life. He proudly served in the United States Army and later pursued his dream of becoming a professional baseball player. His passion for the game never faded he went on to coach baseball at many levels, sharing his knowledge and heart with young athletes across generations. A true entrepreneur at heart, Bubba built a career in car sales and wholesale, using it not only as a means to provide for his family but also to fuel his lifelong love of baseball and the community around it. While his professional accomplishments were many, Bubba's greatest joys were simpler and closer to home: fishing, attending sporting events, and taking road trips with family and friends. Some of his most cherished memories were made at Elephant Butte Lake, where he hosted legendary cookouts. His barbecues were unforgettable, and no one ever left his home hungry or without a hug. Bubba had a way of making people feel seen and cared for, and his warm embraces were just one of the many ways he shared his love. Bubba is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Gwen Aguilera. His influence, kindness, and humor touched many lives. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms... I am going there to prepare a place for you."
