Peter Thomas Marutiak Peter Thomas Marutiak, 73, of Albuquerque, passed away on February 4, 2025, after a long illness. Born on May 16, 1951 in Ypsilanti Michigan, Pete earned a degree in Economics from Michigan State University and worked for the United States Postal Service for 34 years, serving in Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia, Illinois, North Dakota, and finally, Albuquerque, where he made his home. A generous and kind soul, Pete was known for his open door policy and his active role in the Letter Carriers Union. He had a love for baseball, visiting 12 stadiums in one year with Gail, and greatly enjoyed collecting flags. Pete is survived by his wife, Gail; son Peter; three brothers, Michael (Gerda), Joseph (Mieken) and Mark; and several nieces, nephews, other family, and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Peter and Helen; brothers, Dave & Pat; and sister Teresa Marie. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 22, at 1:00 PM at the National Association of Letter Carriers Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local food bank or the MDA.
