Preston Kent Hendrix Preston K. Hendrix, 44, a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend passed away suddenly Nov. 2nd, 2024. Born Jan. 17th, 1980, and raised in El Paso, TX. He is survived by his parents Jo Ann and David Hendrix. Upon graduating from Franklin HS in El Paso, he chose to attend the University of New Mexico. That is when he met the love of his life, Tonya Lewis from Aztec, NM. They were married in 2006. He graduated from UNM with a BA in Accounting and an MBA in Business from the Anderson School of Management. After graduating from UNM, he became the Marketing Manager for the Albuquerque Thunderbirds NBA D-League basketball team. From the Thunderbirds, he moved on to become the Comptroller of the UNM Patent Office for over ten+ years. Preston was an avid sports enthusiast. As he grew up, he played football, baseball, and basketball with many achievements along the way highlighted by being awarded the El Paso City HS Basketball MVP in 1998. Preston is survived by his wife Tonya Hendrix and their three sons; Trent (15), Terrance (11), and Trace (8). He is also survived by his brother Brent Hendrix from Dallas. Preston immensely enjoyed supporting and watching his three sons grow up playing sports, especially baseball. He spent many, many hours at Roadrunner Little League volunteering, coaching, and just plain being a dad. He was well known around the park and had many friends who will miss his presence. We miss him immensely! Our family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who have given their support, compassion, and love throughout this very difficult time. I know in my heart that he would not want us to grieve for too long. Rather, Preston would want us all to remember the good times we all shared with him. In that vein, we have scheduled a Celebration of Life for Preston at the Los Altos Golf Course and Banquet Facility on Saturday, Jan. 18th, 2025, from 2pm to 6pm. The Los Altos Golf Course and Banquet Facility is located at 9717 Copper Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87123. Please join us as we remember Preston the way he would want it to be. Refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to either Tonya Hendrix at 505-235-5036 or to Dave Hendrix at 210-863-4853.
