Randy Lynn O'Connell September 11, 1958- May 11, 2025 Randy Lynn O'Connell, 66, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully in his home on May 11, 2025, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on September 11, 1958, in Albuquerque, Randy proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 14 years as a boiler technician. After his military service, he worked in a variety of trades, ending in manufacturing as a skilled window and door fabricator. Randy was known for his dry wit, quiet strength, and practical wisdom. He often reminded those around him, "Don't sweat the small stuff," a sentiment he lived by. An avid reader and lifelong learner, Randy enjoyed immersing himself in books as a way to explore the world. He was also a passionate cook, believing that just about any dish could be made better with a little Hatch green chile. A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, through both good seasons and bad, he remained devoted to the team. Though Randy lived a solitary life, those fortunate enough to be called his friend knew he was someone they could always count on. He is preceded in death by his parents, Howell and Betty O'Connell; and his brother, Gary O'Connell. He is survived by his daughters, Krista Wiley (Herschal II) and Sarah Solomon (Bryan), both of Hampton, Virginia; his grandchildren, Alexia Hux, Kailyn Solomon, Herschal Wiley III, and Harlan Wiley; his brother, Dennis O'Connell (Olga) of Albuquerque, NM; and his sister, Sharma Glenn (Travis) and their children, Ezra and Grace, of Chandler, AZ. Randy will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on June 29, 2025. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
