Robert H. Hogrefe 3/13/1949-6/18/2025 The only son of USAF
Robert H. Hogrefe 3/13/1949-6/18/2025 The only son of USAF Lt Col Carl H and Maude Hogrefe, Robert (76) peacefully transtioned from his earthly body after a frustrating battle with Parkinsons and dementia. An Albuquerque native, Robert was born at the old Saint Josephs Hospital and later graduated from Sandia High School (1967) and UNM as well as recieving a masters degree from UT Austin. Robert retired from the City of Albuquerque where he worked as a waste water systems specialist. Robert had a contractors license and built many homes around the Supper Rock (Albuquerque) and Raven Road (Tijeras) subdivisions. Robert's combination of knowledge, skills and experience made him a valuable contributor to efforts such as building homes with Habitat for Humanity and helping cleanup New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. In the Peace Corps (Honduras) Robert helped engineer completion of a community water resource project for Save the Children, Inc. For six years Robert had his retirement dream of living in Alaska. He loved "The Last Frontier" and enjoyed all fishing outings as well as wilderness experiences, especially in the Juneau, Anchorage, Seward, Valdez, Denali, and Rangel Range areas. Due to an unfortunate fall on black ice resulting in brain trauma, Robert's final year was spent in Lubbock, Texas, near his sister (Dianne Byrd) and her daughter (Brianne Mireles). Robert is survived by his son, Kenneth Hogrefe (Albuquerque), other family members and many friends all over the world. Robert, a life-long Christian, stated "For a Christian, death is an upgrade". As family we are celebrating Robert's upgrade and are grateful for all the times, laughs, travels, memories and love we shared together. In a few weeks, on the banks of a river, a private memorial service will be held for Robert, per his request. In Lubbock, Agape Funeral Chapel and Crematorium is overseeing final arrangments.
