Robert Lewis Smith, Sr 1957 - 2025 Robert Lewis Smith Sr., a devoted family man and skilled craftsman, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the age of 67, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 25, 1957, in Buffalo, Wyoming, to Merle Gene and Frances (White) Smith, Robert, affectionately known as "Bob," spent his early years in his hometown before graduating from Sheridan High School in 1976. A proud and patriotic man, he immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Mildenhall, England, and served as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic from June of 1976 to July of 1980. It was during his time in the Air Force that he met his beloved wife, Frances. Together, they built a family and raised three wonderful children. Following his honorable service, Bob dedicated his life to a career as a diesel mechanic, a craft he mastered with unwavering commitment and passion. A man of many talents and interests, Bob cherished moments spent with loved ones and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including skiing, fishing, and golfing. He had a profound love for his family and was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and nephew who touched the lives of countless people with his kind spirit. Bob's legacy of love and devotion is carried on by his loving family. He is survived by the mother of his children, Frances R. Smith; his devoted daughters and son, Jamie Lynn Padilla and her husband Joseph, Roberta Lynn Gonzales and her husband Josh, and Robert Lewis Smith Jr. and his partner Madison. He also leaves behind his cherished mother, Frances E. Smith; his sister Lynda Jo Smith; his brother Merle G. Smith Jr. and his wife Kara; a number of nieces and nephews; and his adored grandchildren, Jacob, Jonathan, Jasenia, Jadie, and Ada. He will be profoundly missed by his many other loving family members and close friends. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Merle Gene Smith Sr., and his sister, Kathy Jean Fisher. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, September 11, at 9:30 AM at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro, NM, followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 AM. Graveside burial services will be held at Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo, Wyoming, on Saturday, September 13, at 2:00 PM. Pallbearers are Jacob Padilla, Jonathan Padilla, Joseph Padilla, Josh Gonzales, Steve Aguilar, and John Aguilar. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews, Mike Smith and Brian Puckett; his high school friends, Randy Warnke, Dg Reardan, and Bob Kawulok; and the A-1 Quality Redi-Mix Aguilar Family.
