Sandra Anne Keene Sandra Anne "Sandie" Keene passed away
Sandra Anne Keene Sandra Anne "Sandie" Keene passed away March 2, 2025 at age 80. Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1944, she grew up in Battle Creek. She taught both elementary education and music in Michigan before moving to New Mexico. Earning a Bachelors in Music Education from UNM, she taught for the Albuquerque Public Schools for many years, both in the classroom and for the school choirs and choruses. Her passion for music extended well beyond the classroom. She was a long-time Assistant Director of the Enchanted Mesa Sweet Adelines' Chorus, Director of the New Mexico Women's Chorus, and a member of the New Life Presbyterian Choir. A life-long animal lover, she shared her homes down the years with many dogs, cats, rabbits, and birds. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy Hayden Keene and Angela Ogrin Keene, her brother Robert L. Keene, and her partner Carol Langlois. She is survived by her wife Claire Lapierre, three step-children, several step-grandchildren, and nephews and nieces. A celebration of Life will be held at New Life Presbyterian Church at 2pm, Saturday, March 29th, 2025. A private interment will take place at a later date.
