Sandy Hays Sandy Hays, 72, of Albuquerque, NM, went home to Jesus on September 14th, 2025, following a short battle with aplastic anemia. In her last days, she was happy, at home, and surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She graduated from Highland High School and Eastern NM University, and taught for APS for 28 years. She was an amazing mom to two kids and beloved "Yaya" to seven grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Gary; her son Steve Hays, his wife, Maria, and their five children, Ava, Mateo, Gianna, Grayson, and Lucy; daughter Debbie Pilkinton, her husband Chad, and her two sons, Luke and Evan; cousin Diane Dimond; and her best friend, Barby Woods. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Wilma Stephens, and her beloved sister, Terry Case. Sandy knew her creator and loved Jesus.
