Susan L. McCamey Susan Loraine McCamey passed away on September 23, 2025, 13 years after her diagnosis with cancer. She was born Susan Loraine Kangas in Mitchell, South Dakota on May 22, 1964 to parents Gail and Elizabeth (Faye) Kangas. She is survived by her daughter Sofia who she loved beyond comprehension (To infinity and beyond!), brother Mike Kangas, former sister-law Ashley Kangas, nephews Anderson and Hunter Kangas of Seattle, Washington, and her parents Gail and Elizabeth of Rapid City, South Dakota. Susan was loving, kind and generous and will be sorely missed by all that were touched in her all too short life. She enjoyed all things outdoors, adored every pet she crossed paths with (hers or yours), had a beautiful singing voice, and although infrequent later in life loved to dance. Being compassionate and empathetic to her core served Susan well in her career as a mental health counselor. She helped countless patients gain healthy perspectives of life's many challenges. She worked with children, teens, geriatric patients and those challenged by schizophrenia. A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 2PM.
