Staying home for the holidays or planning to travel? Here are seven holiday events around New Mexico, including shopping experiences, parades and even a bike tour.

Christmas on the Pecos

This holiday wonderland is located along the Pecos River and offers a variety of activities for attendees, including boat rides, train rides and special weekend events.

The boat and train rides run from Nov. 29 to Dec. 31, with departures between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Three unique boat rides are available: the Noelle, the Rudolph and the Pecos Diamond. The Noelle and Rudolph operate daily throughout the event, while the Pecos Diamond runs on select days—see the schedule here for details.

The train ride costs $10 per person for ages 13 and up, while children ages three to 12 can ride for $5. Tickets for the Noelle and Rudolph boat rides are $20 per person for ages 13 and up, and $15 for ages three to 12. The Pecos Diamond boat is $30 per person, with free admission for children under two.

Switch on the Holiday

Head to Brandenburg Park on Nov. 28 to officially transition from Thanksgiving to the holiday season. This free event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with the grand lighting of the Christmas tree at 7 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including a sing-along of holiday classics, a chance to meet Santa Claus, holiday treats and more.

Holiday Sip and Shop at Four Seasons

The Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe invites residents to shop its collection of holiday gifts. Located at the Trading Post and The Spa, guests can pick out holiday gifts while enjoying seasonal drinks and treats, with complimentary gift wrapping available. The event will take place on Nov. 29 and Dec. 13 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Shoppers will receive a $25 spa gift card for every $100 Four Seasons Global gift card purchased.

Los Alamos Holiday Lights Parade and WinterFest Weekend

Head to Los Alamos for this family-oriented holiday event celebrating winter in the city, running from Dec. 6 to 8.

The festivities kick off on Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. with RATcracker on the Hill: Part 2, The Search for Gwen Groves, at the Duane Smith Auditorium. Enjoy Dance Arts Los Alamos’ unique take on The Nutcracker Ballet, where characters from the Manhattan Project dance through time and magical lands. Tickets are available online or at the door.

Saturday will be filled with events, including a Children's Christmas Bazaar, YMCA winter vendor market, Santa's Workshop at Fuller Lodge and a holiday parade. Find the full Saturday schedule here.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday with another showing of RATcracker at 2 p.m. and the 55th Annual Earth Treasure Show at Pajarito Masonic Lodge. This free event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering minerals, fossils, jewelry and more for purchase.

Winter Wine Festival

Hosted in Carlsbad, the 13th Annual Winter Wine Festival will take place on Dec. 7, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. This general admission event will feature 10 different wineries and distilleries. Holiday Lights & Luminaria Bike Tour

Looking for a fun Christmas Eve event? Join Routes Rentals for their 13th Annual Lights and Luminaria Bike Tour. This tour brings families, friends and neighbors from all around New Mexico together to view the lights and luminarias around Albuquerque. On Christmas Eve, participants will ride past Albuquerque’s tallest holiday tree, soak in the gentle glow of San Felipe de Neri Church, see a hot air balloon glow and enjoy the warmth of luminarias lining every path.

There will be three different tour times to choose from: 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 8 p.m. The total distance of the tour is about 4.5 miles round-trip and is beginner-friendly, but riders should feel comfortable biking alongside vehicles after dark.

The tour costs $45 for adults (ages 13+) and $40 for youth (ages 12 and under). Included in your ticket price are a festively lit and wrapped bicycle, a guide, a cup of hot cocoa or cider and a sweet treat at the end of the ride. Carols & Lullabies: A Rose in Winter

This concert will run from Dec. 13 to 22 and will be conducted by Joshua Habermann. The Santa Fe Desert Chorale will be joined by Elizabeth Young on violin and Nathan Salazar on piano. Tickets range from $12 to $114, depending on the section. Celebrate this festive season with familiar carols you know and love, along with new musical treasures to add to your collection of favorite seasonal tunes.
