Baile! baile!

Flamenco Works is bringing Fiesta Flamenca Burqueña to Civic Plaza, 1 Civic Plaza, from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27. The free event will be headlined by Mercedes de Córdoba, with performances by Jesús Muñoz Flamenco, and Flamenco Works’ local youth company, Flamenquitas del Barrio. On Sunday, Sept. 28, the fiesta will host a tablao from 7-9 p.m. at Flamenco Works, 506 Central Ave. SW, and a workshop with Jose Manuel Ramos “El Oruco” from noon to 2 p.m. Tickets for the tablao start at $55.20, and tickets for the workshop start at $40. Get hooked

It’s Free Fishing Day across New Mexico on Saturday, Sept. 27, and Sunday, Sept. 28, where anyone can fish for free in public waters. To celebrate the event, there will be a free youth fishing derby at Tiger Pond in Aztec from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with prizes for participants ages 12 and under. While the fishing is free, all rules and regulations still apply, including bag limits. Visit wildlife.dgf.nm.gov for more information.

Full steam ahead!

The Wheels Museum is hosting the 3rd annual New Mexico Railroad Days at the Rail Yards from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28. The Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe 2926 will be on hand and under steam at the event, giving eventgoers a chance to see the historic train. The Wheels Museum is located at 1100 Second St. SW.

Fete for fall

The New Mexico Japanese American Citizens League is hosting Aki Matsuri, a Japanese Fall Festival, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28. The festival will feature taiko drumming, ikebana flower arranging, traditional Japanese performances and more. Tickets start at $11.85 at eventbrite.com. Expo New Mexico is located at 300 San Pedro Drive NE.

Harvest time

The Council of Albuquerque Garden Clubs is holding its Harvest Craft Fair and Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, and Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Albuquerque Garden Center. The event will feature autumn- and holiday-themed vendors, chile ristra making demonstrations, plants for sale and more. The Garden Center is located at 10120 Lomas Blvd. NE.

In the village

The Corrales Harvest Festival is taking over the village from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, and Sunday, Sept 28. Enjoy hayrides, arts and crafts show, the pet parade, vote for pet mayor and more. Visit corralesharvestfestival.com for ticket information and schedule of events.

Folk and blues

New Mexico Tech’s Macey Center is hosting award-winning folk artist Dom Flemons at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, as part of the Performing Arts Series. Flemons’ repertoire includes country, folk, bluegrass, Americana and the blues. The concert is free, for more information visit, nmt.edu/pas. The Macey Center is located at 801 Leroy Place in Socorro.
