There are many different ways to do ice cream, and Santa Fe features a variety of unique and refreshing options.

Here is a short list of the best places to get ice cream in Santa Fe according to reviews and online sites.

1. La Lecheria

Address: 500 Market St., # 110

Hours: Sunday - Thursday 1 p.m. – 9 p.m., Friday 1 p.m. – 10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Website: https://www.lalecherianm.com/

Phone: (505) 428-0077

La Lecheria serves up classic flavors but also likes to experiment with new adventurous ones like Butterscotch Miso, Black Sesame, Sweet Corn, and Red Chile Honey, just to name a few. All of the ice creams are prepared without stabilizers or other artificial ingredients, and everything is gluten free.

2. The Paleta Bar

Address: 2442 Cerrillos Rd.

Hours: Monday – Thursday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Friday – Sunday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Website: https://thepaletabar.com/

Phone: (505) 467-8137

A paleta is an ice cream bar or as the Paleta Bar describes them, gourmet Mexican pops. And they have been perfecting them for years all across New Mexico. The paleta comes in a variety of flavors, is dipped in a chocolate shell, and then topped off with a topping of your choosing.

3. Oasis Ice Cream

Address: 418 Cerrilos Rd Unit 5

Hours: Monday – Wednesday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., Thursday – Friday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., Saturday 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Website: https://www.facebook.com/oasisicecreamshop/

Phone: (505) 365-2073

Located inside the Design Center mall, Oasis does a little bit of everything, including traditional ice cream, paletas, and even churros and burgers (and even churros in ice cream!). And they do it all very well. The ice cream is homemade with fresh fruit and nuts if that’s the flavor you ordered. It all makes for much more interesting options than you would get at a standard ice cream shop.

4. Kakawa Chocolate House

Address: 1050 Paseo De Peralta

Hours: Monday - Saturday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., Sunday 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Website: https://kakawachocolates.com/

Phone: (505) 982-0388

Great chocolate makes for great chocolate ice cream. That’s the tenet behind life at Kakawa Chocolate House. While the ice cream flavors are obviously limited to chocolate, the flavors are unforgettable. They make everything by hand, one small batch at a time, and completely preservative free.

5. Freezie Fresh

Address: 2631 Cerrillos Road

Hours: Thursday – Sunday 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Website: https://www.freeziefresh.com/

Phone: (505) 509-9310

In the ice cream space, it’s tough to be unique and original. But Freezie Fresh pulls it off. They offer Thai rolled ice cream. They combine vanilla custard with a handcrafted flavor of your choosing onto an “anti-griddle” frozen stainless pan. In mere seconds, the ingredients start to solidify. They then flatten it and scrape it into rolls which they shape to look like rosettes.
