AGC New Mexico gets a new president
The new president of a local contractors group is pushing four key initiatives for 2025.
Brent Franken is the newly elected president of Associated General Contractors of New Mexico, a national group with local chapters that provides advocacy and training to contractors and owners.
“This year, under the theme ‘Building Futures, Strengthening Foundations,’ we will focus on building partnerships, empowering our workforce and delivering value to the construction community across New Mexico,” Franken said in a press release.
The AGC plans to strengthen membership engagement, opening new membership service positions and tailoring the AGC to firms by supporting its contributions to the industry.
The association also is aiming to expand the Construction Leadership Council in hopes of preparing the next generation of leaders.
Some initiatives are focused on keeping old programs running strong such as the annual Heavy Equipment Rodeo, which is an activity focused on exposing students to careers in construction.
Another program the AGC wants to progress is the New Mexico Building Education Foundation, which has new scholarships for undergraduates pursuing careers in construction as well as a second endowment for civil engineers and construction management programs.
Franken is pulling on his experience as the vice president of Franken Construction, a family company that has worked on projects like the University of New Mexico Lobo Welcome Center.
