High schoolers graduate from trades training program
Electrical workers at ACE Leadership High School in Albuquerque on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, when PNM and IBEW launched a new CTECH program focused on creating a pipeline of trade workers for high school students.
The first PNM Power Pros class graduated this month.
The Public Service Company of New Mexico, Ace Leadership High School and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 611 in September launched the program that trains high schoolers in electrical work.
Students who graduate from the program receive a certificate of completion, OSHA 10 certification and high school elective credits, according to PNM.
PNM President and CEO Don Tarry said the utility is proud of its program participants.
“We believe that investing in the education of our local students will help them find rewarding careers that help them choose to live and work in New Mexico,” he said in a statement.
Another graduating class of students in Silver City will be honored in May during a school graduation ceremony.
More students are set to participate in PNM Power Pros in 2025, according to the company.
