Cooler weather means it is officially time for posole (or pozole, if you prefer).

This delicious Mexican stew is traditionally made from hominy with meat (typically chicken or pork), and can be seasoned and garnished with shredded lettuce or cabbage, chili peppers, onion, garlic, radishes, avocado, salsa or limes.

1. Church Street Cafe

Head to this cozy haunt for a comforting bowl of posole. Their menu showcases this dish as white corn served with marinated pork and your choice of red or green chile. Go ahead and order a bowl… as one customer review says: "The posole was so good; I should have gotten a bowl instead of a cup."

A reviewer said: “Can't go wrong coming here. Get here early if you have a large party. It will be packed like it always is. Smaller parties might have a small wait but worth it. Place has been here for years! You might even catch a celebrity or two eating in. Bring cash. I recommend the combo plate or get some posole in the winter. Go red chile! Or Christmas. Service is great too!”
