The State Parks Division of the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department has announced that both Eagle Nest Lake and Fenton Lake are closed to boating and ice-fishing due to "unsafe weather conditions."
Eagle Nest Lake is at 8,200 feet in elevation and Fenton Lake is 7, 650 feet in elevation.
Both lakes have portions of ice forming that are not yet quite thick enough for ice fishing, a news release said.
The release said the lakes are closed off for all watercraft such as canoes, kayaks, inflatables and all types of motorboats until further notice.
The state parks are still open for day use access.
Eagle Nest Lake is located about three hours from Albuquerque, just north of Angel Fire, and Fenton Lake is less than two hours from Albuquerque, just north of Jemez Springs.
