Red River Ski kicks off winter season with Thanksgiving ski event
Ski instructors make the first turns down The Face off the Red Chair Thanksgiving morning at the Red River Ski Area with a brown and green valley as a back-drop. Three chair lifts opened to begin the 1995-96 ski season in New Mexico.
Red River Ski & Summer Area has announced the kick-off of its 2023-2024 ski season.
The ski park will be hosting several events for the kick-off, including a Frozen Turkey Race on Thanksgiving Day.
This free event invites guests of all ages to ride a frozen turkey down the slop to win prizes.
Registration will be open the morning of the event until 11 a.m.
The weekend will also feature a Thanksjibbing Rail Jam a Torchlight Parade with fireworks and on Saturday.
The celebration will continue with discounted list tickets and rentals on Sunday.
"We are excited to welcome guests to Red River Ski & Summer Area for another fantastic ski season," said Linton Judycki, general manager of Red River Ski & Summer Area, in a statement. "Our team has been working tirelessly to ensure that our slopes are in prime condition, ready to provide an unforgettable experience to all winter sports enthusiasts."
