Snow dusts Sandia, East Mountains and south ABQ Friday morning: What's next?
Snow along La Luz Trail
Snow has started dusting the Sandia Peak in Albuquerque, and along Interstate 40 between Clines Corner and Albuquerque.
In Albuquerque, there is rain and snow mixture that started shortly before 5 a.m., according to a social media post from the National Weather Service in Albuquerque.
In another post, the Weather Service said snow accumulation could be as high as 1 or 2 inches in areas above 7,000 feet in elevation.
Road cameras from the New Mexico Department of Transportation show snowy conditions building along I-40 as far west as Tramway NE, and in southern Albuquerque along Interstate 25 there is snow accumulating between Isleta and Sunport SE.
At the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway, in the Ten3 Sandia Ski area, snow is falling thickly.
The weather is expected to warm back up by next week, but it will not be as warm as it was earlier this week.
