Spread joy not germs: Flu shots available for anyone six months and older
'Tis the season for flu shots, and anyone six months of age or older is eligible, according to a news release from the New Mexico Department of Health.
“Getting vaccinated is the best way to stay healthy during the holiday season so we can spend more time with family and friends,” said Miranda Durham, chief medical officer at the Department of Health. “Getting the flu shot reduces your risk of getting the flu and lessens the severity of symptoms if you do get sick.”
The release said getting vaccinated can also protect those around you, such as people over 65, under 2-years-old, pregnant women and those with chronic health conditions.
The release added the vaccine can reduce the risk of flu illness by 40–60%.
