The public is invited to artists' presentations for the North Valley Aquatics Center public art project.
The event, presented by Bernalillo County, will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center, 9800 Fourth St. NW, according to a county news release. A local selection committee chose three semifinalists from 40 proposals submitted by New Mexico artists for the public art project to be installed in the new North Valley Aquatics Center in 2025.
Semifinalists, Nani Chacon, Scott Sutton and Paz Ehecatl, will present their proposals for the project to the local selection committee and Bernalillo County Arts Board.
An introduction will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by presentations by Chacon at 11 a.m., Sutton at 12:30 p.m., Ehecatl at 1:15 p.m. and a discussion at 2 p.m., according to the news release.
Following the presentations, the committee will pick a finalist for the project. The finalist will later be presented to the Arts Board and Bernalillo County commissioners in September for final approval.
The budget for the project is $75,000, according to the news release. The selected artist is expected to complete the project in the spring of 2025. For more information, visit bernco.gov/community-services/cultural-services/public-art-program.
