The Harwood Art Center is hosting “Encompass: A Multi-Generational Art Event” from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12. The free event features five exhibitions, open studios, hands-on art-making projects, live music, food trucks and more. Hardwood Art Center is located at 1114 Seventh St. NW.

Sounding good

Canadian songwriter Matt Andersen is coming to the South Broadway Cultural Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12. Tickets are $22-$33 at artsandculture.cabq.gov. The South Broadway Cultural Center is located at 1025 Broadway Blvd. SE.

What a ham!

The Valencia County Amateur Radio Association (VCARA) is hosting an open house on Saturday, April 12. The public is invited from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to see the communications facilities, have a hot dog and chili lunch and maybe even “get on the air.” The open house is in conjunction with the statewide New Mexico QSO Party. The VCARA Clubhouse is located at 700 Camelot Blvd. SW in Los Lunas.

Living history

The New Mexico Humanities Council is bringing you living history as performers take the stage as Aldo Leopold, John Muir and Teddy Roosevelt. You can catch these conservation icons at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Albuquerque Museum, 2000 Mountain Road NW. The group will also perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at The Fountain Theatre, 2469 Calle De Guadalupe, Mesilla. Tickets are $12 at eventbrite.com.

Piping up

The New Mexico Museum of Art and Santa Fe Pro Musica are bringing you their second Organ Recital Series concert event at noon Wednesday, April 16. The concert will feature works by Frank Martin, Vincent Persichetti and Jehan Alain, featuring the museum’s Frederick R. Haas pipe organ. The concert is free. The St. Francis Auditorium in the New Mexico Museum of Art is located at 107 West Palace Ave.

Hump day!

The Texas Camel Corp is coming to the Coronado Historic Site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12. Interact with live camels while learning about their history in the Southwest. Tickets are $10 per person and free to children 16 and younger, N.M. disabled veterans, N.M. foster families, Tribal Affiliations, Friends of Coronado & Jemez and MNMF members, at my.nmculture.org or at the event. The Coronado Historic Site is located at 485 Kuaua Road, Bernalillo.

They’re bad

Former state historian Robert Torres will speak about the “Bad Girls of New Mexico” at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12. Learn about the roles women played in criminal activity in New Mexico. The event is free at Casa San Ysidro, 973 Old Church Road in Corrales.
