1Celebrating the cranes
The Open Space Visitor Center is hosting a Crane Festival from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Celebrate the return of the sandhill cranes with a day full of activities such as yoga, tai chi, music, face painting, storytelling and more. The event is free. The visitor center is located at 6500 Coors Blvd. NW. Visit cabq.gov/parksandrecreation/open-space to register.
2You’ve got red on you
The Guild Cinema will be showing the comedy-horror film “Shaun of the Dead,” at 10:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10. Tickets are $12, plus fees, at holdmyticket.com.
3Cherry on top
The Lobo Women’s Basketball team will take on the Tarleton State Texans at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. Tickets run $8-$14, plus fees, at golobos.com. University Arena aka The Pit is located at 1111 University Blvd. NE.

4Getting crafty
Sandia Bands is hosting a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. The event will feature over 200 local artisans, crafters and good vendors, with musical accompaniment by the Sandia High School band. Sandia High School is located at 7801 Candelaria Road NE.
5The passion of flamenco
Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company is bringing “Xicano Power” to the National Hispanic Cultural Center in two shows. The dancing begins at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, and 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Tickets run $48-$88, plus fees, at nhccnm.org. Discounts available for seniors, students with IDs, children 12 yeas old and younger, and NHCC members.
6Handmade treasures
University of New Mexico Continuing Education is hosting the The Art of Gifting: New Mexico Arts & Crafts Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Shop from over 80 local vendors, or register for one of the craft workshops and learn to make your own gifts. Entry into the festival is free and workshop class fees start at $15. The UNM Continuing Education Conference Center is located at 1634 University Blvd. NE.
7Honoring our veterans
The Historic Fairview Cemetery, 700 Yale Blvd. SE, will be hosting two events on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11. First, at 10:30 a.m. observances begin with the morning ceremonies and conclude with a wreath placement at the restored Monument to the Unknown Dead. The morning event is free and open to the public. From 3-5 p.m. Cemetery Stories will honor the stories of our veterans. The Cemetery Stories event is $10 at eventbrite.com.
